Q What causes earthquakes ?
Ans. Earthquakes are caused by the disturbance deep down inside the uppermost layer of earth called crust. The crust is made of large and small plates. These plates are constantly moving. When these plates collide with each other they causes earthquake.
Q How can the scientists, architects, the Army, local people and NGO help the flood affected people?
Ans. -
1, Scientists – they tried to find out which area have more chances of earthquake and thus alert the people.
2, Architect – they make special designs of the houses that can be less affected by earthquake.
3, Army – they help the affected people by rescuing them and taking them to the medical camp.
4, Local people – they collect food cloths funds blankets for the affected people. They also help in building houses, rescuing and taking the people to the medical camps
5, NGOs – they provide safe drinking water, food packets and medicines and also make refugee camps.

There can be loss of lives and crops.
Building can be destroyed.

Ans. A seismic zone is an area which has high risk of earthquakes. In India Himalayan region is more prone to earthquake as it lies in the seismic zone.
